XMas WINE PACK 1
Barossa Valley Estate E&E Black Pepper Shiraz 1999
The wine still shows plenty of ageing potential in it's depth and weight and its immense brooding fruit. It is very complex with plenty of well used oak, good acidity and solid tannins, not to mention the immense length.
Top Knot Cabernet 2004
The TOP KNOT was royally treated from vine to wine. Picked on a full moon on a beautiful autumn day. Mother Nature a buzz with the birds and the bees. A single barrel aged in French Oak and bottled without fuss
Amietta Reserve Shiraz 2005
This is an exhilarating, complex, terroir driven Shiraz. It has rich flavours of spicy red and black berries, violets, spice, leather and forest floor supported by a spine of cool climate acidity. Fourteen months in French oak 300 litre ‘hogsheads’ has resulted in a finely balanced wine underpinned by earthy terroir characters. This wine was made from hand-picked fruit grown at the Amietta Vineyard on the edge of the Moorabool Valley near Bannockburn. An excellent wine to drink now, it will continue to mature over the next ten years.
Patrick Reserve Cabernet Savignon
Traditional open fermenters, barrel fermentation and extended maturation in new French Oak barriques. These techniques ensure this wine will age gracefully. We’ve made only 490 cases, (or 5880 Bottles), some of which we will drink and cellar over the next few decades. The rest is yours to enjoy
Thomas Reserve 2005
Nose - Ripe blackberry and chocolate characters with a hint of tar. Elegant oak and tobacco notes.
Palate - Again intense blackberry fruit with ripe mulberry characters and sweet oak. A rich, luxuriant mouthfeel with concentrated fruit extract and grainy tannins that balance the fruit and alcohol. The integrated oak tannins persist through to complement the lingering, jammy, fruit driven palate.
A big powerful wine with amazing length of palate and persistence will drink well and improve with further bottle maturation for at least ten to fifteen years. The perfect accompaniment to beef, lamb, duck & venison.
The Bridge Shiraz 2004
This is fast becoming a cult wine in a few Melbourne and Sydney circles. Each vintage has been rated around 94/100 by Halliday, and the winery Knots has just been elevated to 5 star status in the current Halliday Companion. The wine is made as naturally as possible, without extra watering, herbicides, pesticides and little intervention once the grapes are picked. Winemaker Lindsay Ross bottles, labels and waxes each bottle himself. Always in small quantities - this is a wine that will impress now, or cellar for 5 - 10 + years.
